California guitar wizard John 5 doesn’t believe in downtime. He’ll hit City Winery with his solo band Sunday, less than 24 hours after playing Mohegan Sun with his other band, Motley Crue.
Not many artists use hip-hop to convey sensitivity instead of swagger, but that’s the mood of the latest Why? record, “The Well I Fell Into,” which they’ll feature at the Sinclair.
There should be a couple of surprise highlights in Bentley’s show. One is “American Girl,” the Tom Petty classic that he recently covered for a tribute album. Another will be an encore appearance by the Hot Country Knights.
The first thing to know about a Foo Fighters show is that there are virtually no breathers. Even the acoustic numbers are intense and if you can’t handle three hours where the passion and the energy never let up, you came to the wrong place.
Asia brings its “Heat of the Moment” tour (named of course for its greatest hit) to the Chevalier in Medford on Saturday, and the lineup amounts to a vintage prog-fest.
