Samsung has finally released its competitor to the Oura Ring, the Samsung Galaxy Ring. The new wearable reports on your pulse, sleep patterns, and exercise habits, but looks as inconspicuous as a wedding band. It also doesn't require a subscription service, like the Oura Ring does, making it especially exciting for interested shoppers.

The Galaxy Ring starts at $400 and is available for preorder from Samsung, Amazon, and AT&T. It officially releases on July 24. If you're unsure what size you'd wear, Samsung offers a free sizing kit if you order it directly from its site.

Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung's new Galaxy Ring offers AI-backed health tracking in an inconspicuous form. Its simple design conceals three sensors along the inner surface for tracking several metrics, like heart rate, sleep patterns, and distance.

 Samsung Galaxy Ring features

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is similar to a fitness tracker or smartwatch but with a much smaller form factor. In exchange, you lose a screen and some of the metrics measured. Here are some of the things the Samsung Galaxy Ring uses its three sensors to track:

  • Heart rate
  • Temperature
  • Sleep patterns
  • Distance and speed

In addition to that, Samsung's latest wearables include features backed by Galaxy AI: Energy Score and Wellness Tips.

One of the main benefits of a Galaxy Ring, when compared to the Oura Ring, is the lack of a membership fee. For Oura wearers, perks like personal guidance and insights are locked behind a $6 monthly fee. Galaxy Ring wearers get similar tracking and advice for no additional cost.
