  • Wizards' Alex Sarr: Won't play in SL finale

The Wizards ruled Sarr out for Saturday's Summer League game against the Bucks.

It doesn't appear that Sarr is dealing with an injury considering he is one of seven prominent players taking a seat for Washington's final Summer League contest. The No. 2 overall pick struggled on the offensive end in Vegas but flashed the rim protection and defensive versatility that makes him such an intriguing prospect at seven feet tall.

  • Wizards' Alex Sarr: Shooting woes continue Thursday

Sarr finished just 1-of-6 from the floor for two points over 28 minutes, adding 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in an exhibition win over the Kings on Thursday.

Sarr has been ice cold in Las Vegas, converting just 19.1 percent of his shot attempts through his first four games in Summer League. His first, and only, bucket Thursday didn't come until the closing minute of the first half, and he then proceeded to chuck up another three donuts after halftime. On the plus side, he added 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block, so while his offense is certainly a work in progress, Sarr has been able to show he can steadily provide defensive stats.

  • Wizards' Alex Sarr: Lackluster performance Sunday

Sarr recorded eight points (4-14 FG, 0-5 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and two blocks across 29 minutes during Sunday's Summer League game against the Rockets.

The offensive struggles continue for Sarr, who has shot just 30.7 percent from the floor across two Summer League appearances. Despite the offensive woes, the second overall pick provided value with solid interior defense once again Sunday, tying for a game-high two blocks.

  • Wizards' Alex Sarr: Game-high four blocks in win Friday

Sarr tallied 12 points (4-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, four assists, four blocks and one steal across 32 minutes in Friday's 94-88 win over the Hawks in the NBA 2K25 Summer League.

Sarr has been touted as an athletic big with the potential to block shots at an elite level, and he displayed this ability in the Summer League opener with a game-high four swats. The 19-year-old struggled from the field overall in the highly-anticipated matchup against No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher. However, Sarr stuffed the stat sheet and went an efficient 2-of-5 from deep. The No. 2 overall pick played for Perth in the NBL during the 2023-24 season, and he averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks across 17.3 minutes while shooting 29.0 percent from deep.

  • Wizards' Alex Sarr: Selected No. 2 by Wizards

Sarr was selected with the No. 2 pick by the Wizards in the 2024 NBA Draft.

With a 9-foot-2 standing reach, jump-out-the-gym athleticism and impressive handles, Sarr, out of Perth of the NBL, is an extremely enticing prospect, and it's easy to see why he went No. 2 overall in the draft. He does have a slender frame that needs to fill out, and his offensive game remains a work in progress that's mostly inside the arc, but he should get plenty of opportunities in D.C. He has the potential to impact fantasy hoops right out of the gate with his shot-blocking ability.
