  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Suffers sixth consecutive loss

Crawford (8-15) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over 4.1 innings against the Yankees. He struck out seven. Crawford has now lost six consecutive starts, despite Sunday representing the first time within that span that he's allowed more than three runs or failed to toss at least five innings. The Yankees got to him for a single run in the second, then tallied three additional runs in the third thanks to homers by Gleyber Torres and Aaron Judge. Crawford has now been touched up for 33 home runs across 31 starts and 171.2 innings this season. He'll look to keep the ball in the yard during his next start, scheduled to take place at home against the Twins.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Hangs on for eighth win

Crawford (8-9) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up four runs on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in a 9-4 victory over the Rangers. He struck out four. The right-hander was actually perfect through five innings as he retired the first 16 batters he faced, but the wheels came off quickly for Crawford in the sixth as he threatened to squander a 6-0 lead. The Boston bullpen was able to put out the fire, however. Crawford has been tagged for at least four runs in five straight starts since the All-Star break, stumbling to a 9.75 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB through 24 innings over that stretch while serving up an incredible 13 homers. The fact that he was able to keep the ball in the yard Tuesday offers some hope he could be turning things around, but he'll still be a risky play in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Baltimore.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Tagged for three homers

Crawford allowed five runs on eight hits and struck out five over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Saturday. He did not walk a batter. Crawford has avoided issuing a walk in four of his last five outings, but it didn't lead to success in this start. He gave up home runs to Juan Soto, Aaron Judge and Oswaldo Cabrera the first time through the order. Crawford has given up five or more earned runs in each of his last two starts after a streak of six games where he permitted no more than three earned runs. He's at a 3.60 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 117:29 K:BB through 122.1 innings over 21 starts this season. The right-hander is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Rangers.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Surrenders five homers

Crawford dropped to 6-8 on the season in Sunday's 9-6 loss to the Dodgers after allowing six earned runs on seven hits while striking out two over five innings. Crawford had given up just one home run and one run total across his three July starts heading into Sunday's outing, but he struggled to keep the ball in the yard in Los Angeles. He was staked to an early 2-0 lead, which disappeared by the third inning. He proceeded to serve up five solo home runs before all was said and done, while the sixth run he allowed coming on an RBI double by Gavin Lux in the first inning. His two strikeouts were also a season low, as he registered nine whiffs on 77 pitches. Sunday was certainly an outing to forget for the 28-year-old, though he's still been one of the better pitchers in the Red Sox rotation for much of the season. Crawford now owns a 3.37 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 112:29 K:BB in 117.2 innings and will look to bounce back in his next start, which is expected to come against the Yankees next weekend.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Cruises with seven scoreless frames

Crawford (6-7) earned the win over Kansas City on Saturday, allowing two hits and issuing one walk while striking out four batters over seven-plus scoreless innings. Crawford was sharp in the outing, allowing just a third-inning double and an eighth-inning single along with a walk and a hit-by-pitch. The right-hander capped the pre-All-Star-break portion of the campaign with consecutive seven-inning scoreless outings, and he's on a streak of six straight quality starts. Overall, he's pitched to a 3.04 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 110:29 K:BB over 112.2 innings across 19 starts.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Strikes out seven in win

Crawford (4-7) earned the win against the Marlins on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with seven strikeouts over six innings. Crawford allowed a solo home run to Jake Burger in the fifth inning but was otherwise fantastic, registering a whopping 16 swinging strikes on just 72 pitches. He only threw 23 pitches in a rain-shortened start Wednesday, but he's otherwise logged quality starts in his past four non-weather-impacted outings. On the season, the 28-year-old owns a 3.47 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 102:28 K:BB over 98.2 innings and lines up for a road matchup with the Yankees this weekend.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Next start set for Tuesday

Crawford's next start will come Tuesday in Miami after his last outing was suspended by rain, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports. Crawford threw only 23 pitches over 1.1 scoreless innings Wednesday against the Blue Jays before inclement weather forced an early end to his night. That game will be resumed Aug. 26 as part of a split doubleheader. Despite the righty's limited workload in that outing, the Red Sox have elected to give Crawford a full five days of rest before his next start. As a result he tentatively lines up for two starts next week, as a date with the Yankees looms next weekend.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Stuck with loss in quality start

Crawford (3-7) took the loss Friday as the Red Sox fell 5-2 to the Reds, giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over 6.1 innings. He struck out seven. Some defensive misadventures by Boston softened the blow to the right-hander's ERA and allowed him to escape with his third straight quality start and eighth of the season, but it's hard to ignore the issues Crawford has had of late keeping the ball in the park. He's been tagged for multiple homers in three straight outings and served up at least one in seven straight, stumbling to a 5.36 ERA over the latter stretch despite a 1.19 WHIP and 43:12 K:BB through 40.1 innings. Crawford will try to turn things around in his next start, which lines up to come at home next week against the Blue Jays.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Strikes out nine in win

Crawford (3-6) allowed three runs on three hits and a walk while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win Sunday over the Yankees. Crawford had given up at least four runs in five of his last six starts, but he was able to turn in a strong performance Sunday. He allowed solo home runs to Aaron Judge and Jose Trevino, but Crawford's nine strikeouts were a season high, and he snapped a four-start losing streak. The right-hander is at a 3.54 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 88:26 K:BB through 86.1 innings over 15 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Cincinnati.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Stuck with loss in quality start

Crawford (2-6) took the loss Tuesday, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over six innings as the Red Sox fell 4-1 to the Phillies. He struck out eight. The right-hander got very little support from his offense or defense, but the difference in the game was the two solo shots Crawford served up to Kyle Schwarber. The quality start was Crawford's sixth of the season, but his first in over a month, while the eight Ks were a season high. Since beating the Giants on May 1, he's gone 0-5 in seven starts with a 5.40 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB in 40 innings. Crawford will try to get back in the win column in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against the Yankees.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Next start pushed back

Crawford's next scheduled start will be pushed back to early next week against the Phillies, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports. Crawford's next turn comes up Sunday versus the White Sox, but the Red Sox want to give him some extra rest given his recent struggles (he's allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five starts). Boston is expected to go with a bullpen game Sunday.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Stung by rough second inning

Crawford (2-4) took the loss against Baltimore on Wednesday, allowing five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings. Crawford was excellent outside of the second inning -- he gave up five runs on three hits, a walk and a hit batter in that frame, with the big blow being a grand slam by Gunnar Henderson. The right-hander did hold the Orioles scoreless on one hit the rest of the way, but the damage was too much to overcome against Baltimore starter Corbin Burnes. Crawford has surrendered 11 runs over 10.1 innings across his past two starts, pushing his season ERA to 3.29. It sat at 2.17 prior to the two-game downturn.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Stumbles against Brewers

Crawford (2-3) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings as the Red Sox fell 7-2 to the Brewers. He struck out four. It was the worst performance of the season for the right-hander, who failed to complete five innings for the first time since April 5 and got tagged for more than three earned runs for just the second time in 11 starts. Crawford will take a 2.89 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 61:20 K:BB through 62.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Baltimore.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Allows season-high four runs

Crawford (2-2) suffered the loss Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings against the Rays. He struck out six. Crawford did not allow a long ball after having allowed one each over his past two starts (none over his first six outings) but did serve up three extra-base hits on his way to allowing four earned runs for the first time this season. A two-out triple in the first inning by Amed Rosario was the biggest blow while a fourth inning double by Jose Caballero set up Tampa's fourth run and ultimately served as the deciding run that sent Crawford to his second defeat. Despite the relatively subpar effort, Crawford maintains a high-quality 2.24 ERA that he'll take into his next start, tentatively slated to take place over the weekend when the Red Sox head to St. Louis for an inter-league matchup against the Cardinals.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Delivers another quality start

Crawford came away with a no-decision Tuesday as the Red Sox fell 4-2 to Atlanta, giving up two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six. The right-hander held a tough opponent in check, aside from a two-run shot by Jarred Kelenic in the third inning, but Crawford left the mound after 87 pitches (58 strikes) with the score tied 2-2. It was his fourth straight quality start and fifth of the season, and Crawford will take a 1.75 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 46:15 K:BB through 46.1 innings into his next outing, which is schedule to come at home early next week against the Rays.

Crawford (2-1) earned the win over San Francisco on Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters over seven innings. Crawford took his first loss of the campaign his previous time out when he allowed season highs of four runs (three earned) and 10 hits against the Cubs. The right-hander got back on track with a strong outing Wednesday, notching his third quality start and second victory of the season. Crawford has been outstanding for the Red Sox early in the campaign, ranking fifth among qualified starters with a 1.56 ERA through 40.1 innings. He's added a 40:13 K:BB and 1.07 WHIP to emerge as one of the league's most pleasant surprises thus far.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Takes first loss

Crawford (1-1) took the loss Friday against the Cubs, allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits over six innings. He struck out four. Crawford allowed a season-high 10 hits Friday, though he'd still manage to make it through six innings for a second straight quality start. It's the first time that Crawford's allowed more than one run in a start this year -- he sports an impressive 1.35 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP and 34:11 K:BB across six starts (33.1 innings). He's currently in line for a home matchup with the Giants in his next outing.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Sharp in first win

Crawford (1-0) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on seven hits and three walks over six innings in a 4-2 victory over the Pirates. He struck out six. The quality start was Crawford's second of the season, but Saturday's outing was the fifth straight in which he gave up one run or less. The right-hander generated a dominant 37 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches, and he'll take a stellar 0.66 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 30:11 K:BB through 27.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Cubs.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Skirts danger in scoreless start

Crawford didn't factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out six over five scoreless innings against the Orioles. Crawford somehow kept the Orioles off the scoreboard despite loading the bases in the fourth and fifth innings. He lost all command to start the fifth frame, walking two of his first three batters and tossing a pair of wild pitches. Crawford has yet to be part of a decision this season, but he's allowed just one earned run on seven hits in three starts spanning 15.2 innings. He's currently lined up to toe the rubber Monday against the Guardians.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Shines in season debut

Crawford tossed six innings against Seattle on Saturday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters in a no-decision. Crawford pitched well in spring training and carried that over into his first start of the campaign, holding the Mariners to a first-inning unearned run. At one point, the right-hander retired 14 straight batters, including five by strikeout. Crawford is locked into the middle of Boston's rotation and could be in for a breakout campaign after posting a 4.04 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 135:36 K:BB over 129.1 innings last season.
