Player Outlook
Eloy Jimenez missed three weeks in May due to an appendectomy but otherwise stayed mostly healthy in 2023, and his 120 games played is the most since his rookie campaign. Sitting out 42 games is still significant but marks a major improvement from the previous two years, when he appeared in a combined 139 contests. He still missed some time here and there with calf and groin issues, and his .272/.317/.441 slash line was a notable drop from his .295/.358/.500 line in 2022. Jimenez totaled 18 homers, 64 RBI and 50 runs last season, while his .169 ISO was the worst mark of his MLB career. Potential versus durability continues to be the theme for Jimenez, with durability concerns unfortunately winning out to this point. That seems unlikely to change in 2024, though he would be an incredible value for fantasy managers on the off chance he's finally able to play a full season.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Heading to bench Monday

Jimenez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox. Following Ryan Mountcastle's (wrist) move to the injured list a week ago, Jimenez has moved into a near-everyday role for the Orioles, starting in seven of the last eight games. According to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com, Anthony Santander may not be moving around at full speed after tripping while rounding first base in Sunday's 6-1 win over the Rockies, so he'll get a day out of the outfield and will serve as the designated hitter Monday, which leaves no room in the lineup for Jimenez. Assuming Santander is cleared to play the outfield later on in the series, Jimenez should reclaim a spot in the starting nine in short order.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Hits first homer with new team

Jimenez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Rockies. The homer was Jimenez's first in 23 games with the Orioles. He's slashed .296/.315/.408 with seven RBI since he was traded from the White Sox, which has breathed new life into his campaign. Overall, Jimenez has a .253/.301/.360 slash line, six homers, 23 RBI, 24 runs scored, 14 doubles and three stolen bases over 88 contests this season. Jimenez has seen more steady work as the designated hitter since Ryan Mountcastle (wrist) went on the injured list, which opened up first base for Ryan O'Hearn and Emmanuel Rivera.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Taking seat Thursday

Jimenez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Red Sox. Jimenez made four straight starts from Aug. 3-7 but has not started consecutive games over the past week. Each of his last two starts have been against left-handers, as he now looks to be pegged for a short-side platoon at designated hitter with Ryan O'Hearn.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Not in Baltimore lineup

Jimenez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Nationals. After starting four straight contests, Jimenez has now been in the lineup just two times over the subsequent five games. The 27-year-old is 12-for-24 at the plate to begin his Orioles career but is still contending with Ryan O'Hearn for starts at designated hitter.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Getting Saturday off

Jimenez isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Saturday's game versus the Rays. Jimenez has been white-hot at the plate since joining the Orioles, going 11-for-21 with four RBI across seven games. He'll get a breather Saturday against Drew Rasmussen and the Rays, moving Anthony Santander into the DH spot and Austin Slater into right field.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Stays hot with three hits

Jimenez went 3-for-4 in Friday's 4-1 win over the Rays. Jimenez already has four multi-hit efforts as an Oriole, and he played in his seventh game with the team Friday. All three of his hits in this contest were singles. Still, Jimenez appears to have been jolted awake by the change of scenery after struggling with the White Sox prior to the trade deadline. The 27-year-old is up to a .264/.315/.368 slash line with five home runs, 20 RBI, 19 runs scored, three stolen bases and 11 doubles over 72 contests this year.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Sitting down Thursday

Jimenez isn't in the Orioles' lineup for Thursday's game versus the Blue Jays. Jimenez will get a day to rest Thursday after going 8-for-15 with four RBI over his last four games. His absence will put Anthony Santander into the DH role while Colton Cowser, Cedric Mullins and Ryan O'Hearn start across the outfield.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Pushing for everyday role

Jimenez will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays. Jimenez was widely expected to fill the short side platoon of a platoon at DH when the Orioles acquired him from the White Sox on July 30, but the 27-year-old appears to have pushed his way into a near-everyday role, at least while he's swinging a hot bat. He'll be picking up his fourth consecutive start -- including his third in a row against a right-hander (Bowden Francis) -- after going 6-for-12 with a double and two RBI to begin his tenure with the Orioles. Meanwhile, the lefty-hitting Cedric Mullins will head to the bench for the second game in a row.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Racks up three hits in win

Jimenez went 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI in Sunday's 9-5 win over the Guardians. Jimenez has gone 5-for-9 with two RBI over three contests since he was traded from the White Sox to the Orioles. He started against a right-hander (Gavin Williams) in Sunday's contest, suggesting that Ryan O'Hearn could occasionally move to first base against righties, which could cost Ryan Mountcastle some playing time. Jimenez is at a .252/.306/.357 slash line with five home runs, 18 RBI, 18 runs scored, 10 doubles and three stolen bases over 68 games this year.

  • Orioles' Eloy Jimenez: Moving to Baltimore

The Orioles acquired Jimenez from the White Sox on Tuesday for left-hander Trey McGough, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports. Jimenez has a .240/.297/.345 slash line in the final guaranteed year of his contract, and Chicago was finally able to offload what little remains of that deal. He also has a $16.5 million club option with a $3 million buyout for 2025. Jimenez won't significantly move the needle for the Orioles, but he could see some starts against left-handed pitching since primary designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn typically starts versus righties.

Jimenez isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh. After going 1-for-4 during a loss in Friday's series opener, Jimenez will get a breather against Luis Ortiz and the Pirates on Saturday. Gavin Sheets will fill in as Chicago's designated hitter and bat fourth.

Jimenez is out of the lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader with the Twins. Gavin Sheets will handle DH duties in the nightcap.

Jimenez isn't in the White Sox's lineup for Saturday's game against Miami. Jimenez will get a breather Saturday after going 7-for-19 with two runs scored over his last six games. His absence will allow Gavin Sheets to serve as Chicago's designated hitter while batting fourth.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: On bench Wednesday

Jimenez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Cleveland. Jimenez will take a seat for the second time in four games, giving way to Gavin Sheets at DH. Since being brought off the IL on June 23, Jimenez is 8-for-29 (.276) with a pair of doubles.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Heading to bench Wednesday

Jimenez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers. Jimenez experienced a brief scare when he experienced some soreness in his hamstring in his first game back from the injured list in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers, but he proceeded to serve as the White Sox's designated hitter in both of the first two games of the series with the Dodgers. He went 2-for-9 between the two contests, smacking a double while driving in a run. Jimenez didn't report any setbacks with the hamstring coming out of either game against the Dodgers, so he's likely just getting a planned day off Wednesday.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Three-game hitting streak

Jimenez went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI on Tuesday against the Dodgers. Jimenez started in his third consecutive game since being activated from the injured list Sunday, and he has one hit in each contest. His performance Tuesday marked his first extra-base hit in that span, and he also has one RBI and one run scored. Jimenez has hit either third or fourth in every game since his return.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Will be in Monday's lineup

Jimenez (hamstring) will be in the lineup for Monday's contest against the Dodgers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The White Sox haven't yet released their lineup for the series opener, but Jimenez has evidently received the green light to make a second consecutive start. Jimenez was noticeably gimpy while running the bases in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers in his first game back from a stint on the injured list due to a left hamstring strain. The apparent aggravation of the hamstring injury won't cause him to miss any starts, at least not yet. Certainly, Jimenez will remain a major injury risk as he attempts to play through some discomfort.

  • White Sox's Eloy Jimenez: Dealing with soreness

Jimenez experienced hamstring soreness in his return to the lineup in Sunday's 11-2 loss to the Tigers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Jimenez made his return from the 10-day injured list Sunday after missing a month with a left hamstring strain, and he now appears to be dealing with a potential setback. The White Sox are set to launch a three-game series at home versus the Dodgers on Monday, and the 27-year-old's status is worth monitoring leading up the 8:10 p.m. ET opening pitch.
