The Morning Footy crew react to the reports that Thomas Müller has decided to retire from international football. He made 131 appearances for Germany scoring 45 goals, was the golden boot winner at the 2010 World Cup, and won the World Cup with the team in 2014. He played in a total of 4 World Cups and 4 Euros for the Germans. His retirement comes after teammate Toni Kroos announced his as well. Unlike Kroos, Müller is not finished yet on the club side as he is set to return to Bayern Munich for his 17th season.

The Morning Footy crew recap last night's Copa América semifinal matchup between Argentina and Canada. The dream run for Canada unfortunately came to an end at the hands of the defending tournament champions. Argentina seemed to finally get it together and Lionel Messi finally got his first goal of the tournament. As for Jesse Marsch and the Canadian side, this was their best major tournament performance ever and should be extremely proud. Argentina will now go on to the final to face off against either Uruguay or Colombia who play tonight.

Spain up to this point is the only team in the tournament that has lived up to their billing having won all their matches, they beat host nation Germany, and have actually scored in open play unlike their opponent. France have been underwhelming, only scoring via penalty kicks or from own-goals yet they've reached this point in the Euros. This may come down to the strategies that are employed by each manager, Didier Deschamps for France and Luis de la Fuente for Spain. Side notes, N'Golo Kanté has never last a single Euros match he's participated in for France. The Netherlands haven't been convincing up to this point but have seemed to turn it around. They move on to the Quarterfinals for the first time since 2008. Next, the group recap Türkiye's 2-1 victory over Austria which a lot of folks are calling the match of the tournament so far. Mert Günok's talents were on full display as the goalkeeper for Türkiye made highlight save after highlight save. Türkiye are also the first team ever to start two teenagers in the knockout round of the Euros. They also qualify for the Quarterfinals for the first time since 2008. These two victors will now face each other. Finally, the group debate what the most enticing Quarterfinal matchup is.

In order for the USMNT to advance out of the group, they need to win or draw against Uruguay and also need Panama to lose against Bolivia who have yet to score a single goal in the competition. His counterpart however Marcelo Bielsa is suspended for the match because of their late arrival out onto the pitch in the second half against Bolivia.
