Services will be private for Charles Turzak, 86, a longtime Chicago art director and muralist. Mr. Turzak, of Orlando, died Friday in Orlando Regional Medical Center. Before moving to Florida in 1958, he had been art director for several Chicago-based publications, including Hygeia, a publication of the American Medical Association. He painted several murals in the 1930s for the Army 6th Corps offices in Chicago, the U.S. Post Office on Canal Street and the University of Chicago`s science building. He also produced a series of 36 woodcuts depicting the life of Abraham Lincoln. Survivors include his wife, Florence; a daughter, Joan Van Hees; and two grandchildren.
