A 29-year-old school janitor was charged with murder Sunday in connection with the early-morning beating death of an acquaintance in the Ravenswood neighborhood. The janitor, Nicholas Perrone, 2035 W. Belle Plaine Ave., and Harry Grafen, 29, of 2171 W. Warner Ave., were drinking together in a tavern at 3832 N. Lincoln Ave. early Sunday when they began to argue, said Sgt. Thomas Byrne of the Belmont Area. Just after 2 a.m., the two men left the tavern, police said. Officers responding to several calls of a disturbance in a nearby alley found Grafen on the ground with wounds on his face and head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
