Daniel O`Brien, who is running for re-election to the Cook County Board, called Sunday for the resignation of Ald. Edward Vrdolyak (10th) as chairman of the Cook County Democratic Party. O`Brien, who had sought the party`s backing but was not slated by the Democratic organization, said Vrdolyak ”is an embarrassment to the party. He has divided this city, and he should resign.” Attempts to reach Vrdolyak to comment were unsuccessful. O`Brien, a member of the regular Democratic organization for 15 years and a former 43d Ward committeeman, said he would have called for Vrdolyak`s resignation even if he had been slated.
