The Illinois International Port reported a 13 percent drop in cargo tonnage. The port, formerly called the Port of Chicago, handled 1.9 million tons in 1985, down from a record 2.1 million tons in 1984. Restrictions on steel imports caused foreign steel shipments to fall by 345,800 tons compared with the previous year, the port said. General cargo shipments fell to 550,448 tons, from 885,285 tons in 1984.
