The second phase of 15 homes has been opened at Whytegate, a custom single family development in north suburban Lincolnshire.

The decision to begin the new section ahead of schedule was made after 26 sales in first phase had been recorded in only six months, according to Stephen Rice, vice president of Arthur J. Greene Construction Co.

Located on the former Florsheim estate, Whytegate consists of 69 custom homes priced from $238,000 to $400,000. The 60-acre wooded site is planned for 1/2 and 3/4 acre homesites and a village park in addition to extensive renovation of the original gatehouse, keeper`s cottage and stables.

The original paddock, surrounded by the existing estate buildings, is the focal point of the community. The gatehouse, cottage and stables surround the paddock on three sides. The developer commissioned a leading architect to design a custom single family home for the fourth side to blend in with the existing architecture.

The developer is building a limited number of showcase homes for immediate occupancy.

Whytegate is on Riverwoods Road, north of Half Day Road (Ill. Hwy. 22).
