UPDATED:

The editorial in a recent Tribune, ”Ronald Reagan`s consolations,”

contained my feelings exactly. I never heard so much ”hearts and flowers”

and false patriotism in one speech. It was obvious that President Reagan`s speech (Yes, the man can really speak!) indicated all talk but no action.

I voted for him but he lost me when the American farmers were deserted in their time of despair.

The only subject I agreed with the President on was welfare, which has certainly gotten out of hand in this country, and drastic steps should be taken to discourage people from having and using children as a sham to protect them from having to go to work.

In attempting to trim down expenses, and the national deficit, why do we need to spend so much on going into space? I wish someone could explain to me the importance of going to the Moon rather than taking care of our problems here on Earth first.

It`s too bad that such a likeable, distinguished man as our President doesn`t have the ability of true leadership.
