Initial claims for state unemployment insurance rose by 32,000, to 396,000, in the week ended Feb. 8 from the preceding week`s 364,000, the U.S. Labor Department said. The number of workers receiving state unemployment insurance fell by 14,000, to 2,552,000, in the week ended Feb. 1 from the preceding week`s 2,566,000.
