Morgan Park (18-5, 10-2) defeated visiting Hirsch 73-62 Thursday to gain sole possession of first place in the Public League`s Blue-South Section.

Kenny Miller`s 22 points, Tony Thompson`s 17 and Derrick Smith`s 13 helped Morgan Park drop Hirsch (17-7, 9-3) into second. Darryl Woods and William Allen had 24 points apiece for Hirsch.

Collins 79, Farragut 68–Eighth-ranked Collins (19-4, 11-1) held its one- game advantage in the Red-West behind Walter Bond`s 22 points and Randy Brown`s 21. Farragut (12-7, 6-6) was led by Terrell Jackson`s 32 points.

Metro 71, Near North 52–Metro, enjoying its finest season since the days of Mitchell ”J.J.” Anderson, retained its one-game edge in the Blue-West. Steve Flowers scored 22 points and Kevin Acre 15 as the Mavericks (13-6, 10-2) won their fourth straight game and 10th in their last 11 games. Kevin Cotton had 30 points for Near North (11-9, 5-7).

Marshall 79, Young 59–Marshall (15-8, 9-3), behind Robert Dent`s 18 points, remained in the Red-West title hunt. Darryl Robinson had 24 for Young (4-19, 0-12).

Crane 71, Westinghouse 67–Joe Daughrity`s 18 points and Tremell Murphy`s 13 enabled Crane (16-5, 9-3) to remain in contention in the Red-West. Emanuel Cross had 20 points for Westinghouse (13-10, 6-6).

Fenger 69, Washington 66–James Boozer`s free throw gave Fenger a 67-66 lead with six seconds left in the Blue-South game. Mike Cornelius had 33 points for the Titans (12-11, 6-6). Mel Agee had 22 for Washington (9-13, 3-9).

Austin 89, Juarez 50–Greg Powell`s 28 points weren`t enough to save Juarez (0-20, 0-12) from its 84th consecutive loss. Austin (11-12, 7-5)

prevailed in the Blue-West behind Tommy Ellis` 17 points.
