UPDATED:

Jeffrey Gluck, ousted as publisher of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat because of its mounting debts, will head a new afternoon tabloid that will make St. Louis a three-newspaper town.

The St. Louis Daily News will begin publishing weekday editions in late March, said Marcus Tully II, a retired advertising executive who will act as publisher.

Tully said the 10-cent newspaper would fill a void left when the St. Louis Post-Dispatch went to a morning paper. He said the 40-page tabloid would aim for a daily circulation of 100,000 and concentrate on attracting ”up and coming St. Louisans” in affluent west St. Louis County.
