An 18-year-old Arlington Heights youth was listed in good condition Friday in Northwest Community Hospital with second- and third-degree burns suffered when an explosive device went off in his hand in Buffalo Grove High School. Howard Kanter, 719 E. Hackberry Dr., in the northwest suburb, found a bomb in his younger brother`s locker and was carrying it to the principal`s office when it exploded in the school cafeteria at about 7:20 a.m., authorities said. ”It was more of a smoke-type device; there was no shrapnel,” Buffalo Grove Fire Capt. John Wieser said. No charges have been filed in the incident, but an investigation was continuing, Police Sgt. Lester Aradi said.
