The Chicago Tribune on Friday indicated that five previously striking union printers who are being called back are to report to work Monday. They are the first of 63 printers who, the company said, will be brought back ”in orderly fashion” after their union made an unconditional offer to end a strike that started July 18. In all, 230 printers walked out; picketing will continue by the union, which maintains that all 230 should be brought back. The 63 will replace printers hired on a temporary basis since the strike. Walkouts by two other unions, the mailers and pressmen, continue.
