Construction has begun on four model townhouses and condominiums at Mistwood, a new residential development by Burnside Construction Co. in west suburban Downers Grove.
Mistwood is the first residential venture by the Arquilla family, owners of Burnside, outside the south and southwest suburbs where the firm has built more than 22,000 homes in the past 74 years.
The new project will include 125 townhouses and condominiums priced from $139,900 to $217,000.
Orders are being taken from a temporary sales office at 33d Street and Highland Avenue. George ”Bud” Arquilla III, executive vice president, said 17 units already have been sold from blueprints. Furnished models will be open by April with first occupancies later in the spring.
The homes will offer octagonal dining rooms, cathedral ceilings, kitchen dinettes and master bedroom suites with whirlpool baths and ”his and her”
walk-in closets. Fireplaces, oak trim and burglar/fire alarm systems will be standard in all homes.
The units are designed in configurations of three, four or six units with townhouses on each end and condominiums in the center.
Models include:
— Unit A, a first floor condominium with two bedrooms, two baths, one-car garage and optional basement, depending on topography of the land. With a total 1,776 square feet of floor area, it is priced from $139,900,
— Unit B, a second floor condominium with 2,175 square feet and three bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, cathedral ceilings and two-car garage. Priced from $163,900, it offers an optional 370-square-foot loft that boosts the total square footage to 2,545.
— Unit C is a ranch townhouse with two bedrooms, den, 2 1/2 baths, octagonal dining room with cathedral ceiling and optional basement. With 2,202 square feet, it is priced from $205,000.
— Unit D is a two-story townhouse with 2,766 square feet, a downstairs master bedroom suite, three or four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a sitting room off the master bedroom or a den off the living room. It also has an octagonal dining room with cathedral ceiling. A basement is optional. The unit is priced from $217,000.
