Caterpillar Tractor Co. has agreed in principle to form a joint venture with Donaldson Co. to make an advanced-design filter for its diesel engines and construction equipment. Donaldson, a Bloomington, Minn.-based filter manufacturer, will make the filters in a central Illinois plant beginning in late 1987. The filters will be sold under the Caterpillar name.
