A 26-year-old man who visits Disneyland nearly every day — sometimes on his lunch hour — won his second car at a giveaway at the amusement park, officials said Monday.

Lawrence Shingle, of Anaheim, who works in the appliance department of a nearby K mart discount store, said he was more interested in winning a commemorative pin than the $12,000 Pontiac Firebird.

”We were just collecting pins at the time,” Shingle said. ”My girlfriend went in front of me at the gate and then I went through and I won the car.”

Shingle is the first visitor to win two cars since the amusement park began giving them away last year to publicize its 30th anniversary, Disneyland spokesman Bob Roth said.

The park gave away a car to every 30,000th visitor in 1985 and is giving one away randomly every day this year though the end of May.

Shingle said he has been visiting the park almost daily since buying a $100 annual pass 10 months ago because the visits ”remind me of when I was a kid, when I never wanted to leave.”

Shingle said he sold the first car he won from the park last August, a four-door Buick Century, because ”it wasn`t my style,” and used the money to buy a compact pickup truck for weekend ski trips. He said he plans to keep the Firebird.

”It`s bright red,” he said.
