CLEVELAND, Ohio – Maybe we’re all just kids at heart. What else can explain the die-hard love for a good greasy pizza – at least on Instagram?

The past several years, cleveland.com’s social media team has worked with members of the Life & Culture staff to run @DineDrinkCLE, an Instagram account that showcases delicious meals and drinks from restaurants across Northeast Ohio.

When analyzing data to determine the most popular posts on the account in 2021, we found pizza is certainly the top food group -- with three photos making the Top 10. Check out the Top 10. Data is based on most likes, comments and views from a CrowdTangle search as of Dec. 12.

No. 1

These (deliciously) greasy slices of pepperoni pizza from Edison’s in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood made the most popular post on the page in 2021, by far. The photo garnered 943 interactions – 915 likes and 28 comments.

No. 2

More pizza! That cheese pull! This crispy slice of pepperoni pizza (and the rest of the pie) from Good Meal Jane, which operates out of a ghost kitchen on Cleveland’s West Side, is our second most-loved photo. It garnered more than 300 likes and 13 comments. The photo was captured by @clefood, a local foodie account that allows us to share their photos on our account.

No. 3

This photo screams summer. A vanilla cone with “jimmies” (AKA sprinkles) from Northeast Ohio favorite East Coast Custard got a lot of love this year, with 260 likes and five comments.

No. 4

Need a caffeine fix? The most popular coffee photo on DineDrinkCLE in 2021 came in the form of this Cinnamon Toast Crunch iced latte from Milk & Honey, a café in downtown Cleveland that opened in the spring. This tasty drink got 238 likes and four comments.

No. 5

The perfect fall treat? Maybe. These apple cider donuts, picked up this fall from Dodd’s Hillcrest Orchards in Amherst, were photographed by local foodie account @cravecle and shared on DineDrinkCLE with permission. The sugary donuts got 220 likes and seven comments.

No. 6

Yes, even more pizza. This yummy pie from Ohio Pie Co. (with locations in Brunswick and Rocky River) is the third -- and final -- pizza offering that made the Top 10. It received 184 likes and 13 comments from our followers. The photo was taken by Lee Sechrist and shared, with permission, with a story published on our website earlier this year.

No. 7

Saucy #7! Tortellini from Mia Bella in Cleveland’s Little Italy is never a bad choice. This photo, taken by the @cravecle Instagram account mentioned above, garnered 181 likes and 13 comments.

No. 8

This popular post was the only “album” that made the Top 10 for 2021 on @DineDrinkCLE. It features some delicious-looking pork chops, lobster rolls and an Old-Fashioned, served at The Rustic Grill at StoneWater Golf Club in Highland Heights. The photos received 187 likes and two comments.

No. 9

Even more donuts! And this time, a wide variety of them. The case from Spudnut Donuts’ Berea location attracted 180 likes and four comments when shared in January.

No. 10

Some fan-favorite French fries round out the Top 10 @DineDrinkCLE posts for 2021. The pommes frites from Bar Cento in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood garnered 161 likes and 12 comments when the photo was shared in early December.
