Jackie O's Brewing and Ohio University have teamed up to release an official beer collaboration.

ATHENS, Ohio — Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery has teamed up with its hometown school Ohio University for a beer collaboration meant for Bobcats.

Ohio Athletics and Jackie O’s announced that they’ll begin selling officially licensed cans of its Ricky Golden Ale, making it the official beer of Ohio University. Twelve packs of the 4.5% alcohol brew are available in the co-branded cans starting this month.

Ricky is the best-selling beer for Jackie O’s in its facilities in Athens and Columbus, as well as for its statewide retail operations. The Jackie O’s x Ohio University Ricky cans are available in stores across the state.

For Bobcats in Cleveland, Winking Lizard in Lakewood is hosting an official launch party for the collaboration today - Friday, July 12. Both cans at the bar and 12-packs to go will be available at the location. The restaurant plans to donate a portion of the proceeds of 12-packs sold back to Ohio University.

Outside of retail spaces, the new Ricky cans will be available on OU’s campus at Peden Stadium and the convocation center during sporting events.

The Jackie O’s and Ohio University beer collaboration is managed through Ohio Sports Properties. Other universities in the state have developed similar partnerships in the past, like Hoppin’ Frog Brewery and University of Akron this year.

Additionally, in 2022, Sibling Revelry Brewing came out with Kent State Golden Lager, the official craft beer of Kent State Athletics. Last year, Penguin City Brewing Co. released a limited-edition design commemorating Youngstown State and its mascot Pete.
