Orlando police announce 4th arrest in shooting that injured man, 4-year-old girl

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police have announced another arrest in a shooting that left a man and a 4-year-old girl hurt earlier this month.

Jezer Alexander Gonzalez, 23, was booked Tuesday on charges that include attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery and armed robbery, records show.

Officers responded around 12:15 p.m. July 6 to the 700 block of South Oxalis Avenue and found a 45-year-old man with several gunshot wounds and a 4-year-old girl who had also been struck in the shooting, according to the Orlando Police Department. Both of them are expected to recover from their injuries, police said.

Gonzalez is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with the shooting, with the others identified as Yasmi Matamoras-Mendoza, 32; Marvin Sanchez, 39; and Juan Carlos Lopez-Ruiz, whose age was not immediately provided.

Sanchez was detained at the scene of the shooting while Matamoras-Mendoza was located by the U.S. Marshals Service after running to Louisiana, Orlando police said July 8. Matamoras-Mendoza faces charges of robbery with a firearm, two counts of aggravated battery, four counts of attempted second-degree murder and unlawful use of a two-way communication device while Sanchez faces charges of tampering with physical evidence and two counts of accessory after the fact.

Lopez-Ruiz faces charges of attempted murder, attempted second-degree murder, armed robbery with a firearm and conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm, police said July 9.

Gonzalez, the latest arrest in the shooting, was reportedly apprehended July 10 by the police department’s Fugitive Investigative Unit, though details of his capture had not been shared at the time of this report.

His first appearance in court was scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
