From the halls of Graceland to the historic homes of Connecticut, the Hallmark Channel's latest "Countdown to Christmas" movies have taken us to some of the most scenic spots around the country. And one of their latest features, Christmas Everlasting, continues the trend.
The new film, which stars Tatyana Ali, Dondre Whitfield, Dennis Haysbert, and Patti LaBelle is based on Marie Bostwick's book The Second Sister, and takes place in the fictional small town of Nilson’s Bay, Wisconsin. Though it's not a real city you can visit, you can make your way to all the movie's most beautiful filming spots scattered down south.
"We filmed in quite a few locations around Georgia—in Atlanta and central Georgia," Dondre tells CountryLiving.com. The historic church, quaint covered bridge, and other pretty sets were all pulled from real-life spots in Mansfield and the nearby countryside, while many of the charming small town scenes were filmed in Covington, according to Atlanta Magazine.
Just like the rest of the network's movies, it has that picture-perfect holiday look thanks to the stunning scenery and one more important factor. "It absolutely has the quintessential look of Hallmark movies because we had a quintessential Hallmark director in Ron Oliver," Dondre says. "It's more than great."
The new feature is just one of Hallmark's many movies that were shot down south. In fact, many of their recent projects were filmed in Georgia. Both Love at the Shore (2017) and The Beach House (2018) were made in Tybee Island, while Dahlonega served as the backdrop for Christmas in Homestead (2016). Atlanta was used to film The Lost Valentine (2011).
If you make your way through the great peach state this holiday season, be sure to start your journey in the region's most famous Christmas destination—the picturesque village of Dahlonega.
From there you can drive down to Atlanta and then onward to the small towns of Covington and Mansfield to get the full Christmas Everlasting experience. Merry travels!
