00:03 Sweep at City for the LA Dodgers, who entered this midweek series in Major League Baseball,
00:10 riding a five-game skid. Not something we will often say about LA throughout this regular season.
00:16 But on the other side, the New York Mets. And DRS, if yesterday's game, the third and final of a midweek set up in Queens at City Field,
00:25 between the Amazons and the Dodgers, is emblematic of New York season. It was on full display.
00:32 Tied at three all, entering the eighth inning, LA scores six in the top half of the eighth,
00:38 including the second long ball of the day from Will Smith. A Shohei Otani two-run shot.
00:43 He had three RBIs yesterday against New York. And Jorge Lopez, ejected from the game, arguing a check swing.
00:53 Tosses his glove into the stands. And then ridiculed the Mets as an organization to only get DFA'd.
01:01 Pretty much he was cut, designated for assignment, following the game by the Mets organization.
01:07 Things are bad in New York. The Dodgers win 10-3 to complete the sweep over the Mets.
01:12 But New York now has lost 15 of its last 19 games. And things are bad up in Queens.
01:19 Yeah, by the way, shout out to J.D. Martinez, going one of five yesterday, but recording an RBI in the fifth inning to cash in a ticket.
01:26 So it was a glorious day overall for me, being a Philadelphia Phillies fan, with them pick up the victory.
01:30 The Mets getting a loss and seemingly in turmoil now at 22-33. You saw the postgame pressure there,
01:36 where, you know, you talk about a pitcher that's upset. You want to put the blame on yourself.
01:41 Hey, I lost my cool. I apologize. You know, we'll get this together. He took the opposite route.
01:46 And now he is out of town at this point. But also, they had a closed-door meeting with the players themselves.
01:51 Keep in mind also, Pete Alonzo got hit with a pitch in the first inning and didn't come back to the game.
01:55 X-rays were negative on the finger, so it wasn't broken. Thank goodness for that for the Mets.
01:59 But I don't know where they go from here. Usually, it's like you hit rock bottom, you go higher.
02:03 They are already so far buried in contention in the NL East because of the good start from the Atlanta Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies.
02:09 That's already out of the equation. We haven't even gotten to June yet. This is crazy for the Mets.
02:14 And again, I don't know what happens from here on out, but we sort of were entering into a season almost as a throwaway for the Mets.
02:20 And it seems like the Mets are throwing the season away and gloves, apparently, into the stands.
