Eat up

Grab the gang and head to B.O.B. Fest in Smithfield. Enjoy all-you-can-eat oysters (steamed or raw), barbecue and Brunswick Stew. Sip on bloody marys, specialty vodka drinks and other cool beverages that are available for purchase. Must be 21 and older to attend.

Grape escape

Stop by the Vino Culture’s Italian Wine Expo at VIA design. It will showcase 18 wines from Northern, Central and Southern Italy. Whatever your jam, the expo has it: reds, whites, bubbles and rosé.

Candle and wine

Do something different in the New Year. Make a candle at Under the Stars Farm. Sip some wine or hot apple cider. Workshop includes a candle-making kit (includes a vessel, two wicks, natural soy wax, essential and fragrance oils, and decorative dried flowers).

Awards Breakfast

The Urban League of Hampton Roads is hosting its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Leaders Awards Breakfast. Tickets include breakfast with items such as Surry sausage or Virginia ham, sweet potato biscuits and hash brown casserole. Keynote by Clint Smith, New York Times bestselling author of “How the Word Is Passed.”

Glass charcuterie class

Learn to make a charcuterie board. This fused glass class will teach you the basics of glass cutting, layering and kiln firing. All the materials and tools are provided. Get creative.
