Camilla d'Errico's Biomechanical Ladies

My second art book with Dark Horse, Helmetgirls, is a collection of steampunk artwork that I am very excited to present in a single book. For years, I have wanted to collect my biomechanical ladies into a comprehensive book to showcase the universe that they exist in. An obsession that I revel in, these girls have become my artistic signature. Happily, I am now able to collect and show them to the world.

It was important for me to distinguish this book, not only in content but also in design, from my previous art book, Femina and Fauna, which is a collection of my oil and acrylic paintings of wide-eyed girls adorned with animals. F&F had a clean and almost gallery-styled presentation. Helmetgirls is edgy and stylish, with blended title pages that give an avant-garde look to my images. One of my favorite features is the cover, which features two of my most dearly loved colors, fluorescent pink and blue.

Working with Scott Allie on this project was incredible. He dove into the workload and was able to weave a complex number of images into an airy and dynamic layout. The designers were brilliant, and I can’t thank them enough for how they’ve brought this book to life.

Now my gargantuan-headgear-sporting lasses have a home.
