Kid Rock strains vocal chords, postpones concert dates
Kid Rock has postponed concert dates in St. Louis and Chicago due to strained vocal chords, the rocker explained in a statement on his website.
Saturday's concert at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri and Sunday's concert at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheater in Tinley Park, Illinois, will be rescheduled, Rock says.
"I have NEVER had to cancel shows. This absolutely sucks," Rock writes. "I know people have made plans, took time off, got babysitters, took road trips and planned events around these shows. My voice is simply gone right now," he writes, saying he pushed himself too hard during Thursday's show at the Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas.
"I am not one to apologize too often, but this is one time that is beyond deserving of one," Rock says. "So to the people who were planning to attend the shows in St. Louis and Chicago, I am sorry I can not entertain you this weekend to my full potential."
Rock now has several days off, which he will use to rest his voice, before the tour resumes on Thursday outside of Cleveland.
"I am planning on my voice being in tip top shape by Thursday, so I will see you (expletives) then!" he says.
Rock will play a venue-record 10 consecutive concerts at DTE Energy Music Theatre next month. The concerts are sold out.
