Cardi B charged with two misdemeanors after incident at strip club

Rapper Cardi B turned herself into the police Monday after allegedly ordering an attack on two bartenders at a New York City strip club. TMZ reports that the newlywed and new mother was at the club because husband Offset's rap group Migos was performing. Cardi allegedly confronted two sisters who were bartenders because she believes one of them slept with her husband. She allegedly told her posse to attack the bartenders with bottles, chairs and a hookah, TMZ reports. The women were hurt but refused medical attention. Cardi was charged with misdemeanors for assault and reckless endangerment and then released. TMZ reports she had her mug shot taken and was fingerprinted. She's scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 29. 

Jemele Hill lands at the Atlantic

After a highly-publicized departure from ESPN, journalist Jemele Hill will now cover the intersection of sports, race and politics for The Atlantic. The Detroit native, who will also have a podcast, said in a statement that joining the staff at The Atlantic was the right move. “You can’t talk about sports without talking about race, class, gender and politics. I want to explore the complications and discomforts with a publication that has a long history of supporting this kind of work,” she said. “Jemele is a wonderfully talented journalist who is famous for her acute commentary, fearless writing and encyclopedic knowledge of sports,” said Jeffrey Goldberg, the Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, in a statement. “But what drew us to Jemele in particular is her deep commitment to reporting. There are a million stories to be uncovered at the intersection where sports, race, money and politics meet, and Jemele is the exact right person to do this uncovering, and The Atlantic is the exact right home for this sort of journalism.” Hill is a graduate of Mumford High School and Michigan State University.

John Legend brings Christmas tour to Fox Theatre

John Legend, a recent honoree into the exclusive EGOT club — winners of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards — announced the “A Legendary Christmas Tour” will make the rounds this season, including a Dec. 6 concert at the Fox Theatre. The tour is in support of a holiday album of the same name, which was produced by Raphael Saadiq and comes out Oct. 26. Tickets for the Fox Theatre show start at $49.50 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday via 313Presents.com or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. The Fox Theatre and Little Caesars Arena box offices will also sell them.
