Hunter's fatal shooting in Lenawee Co. under investigation

Detectives with the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office are investigating the fatal shooting of a hunter by another hunter this week, officials said.

The shooting happened Thursday in the 15000 block of Rome Road in Rollin Township, the Sheriff's Office said.

The township is about 16 miles west of Adrian and about 18 miles east of Hillsdale.

Sheriff's officials said deputies received a 911 call about the incident at about 9:45 a.m. Deputies and medics both responded to the scene.

Officials released few details but said the victim died at the scene.

Detectives are working with officials from the Addison Fire Department and the Michigan Department of NaturalResources on the investigation.

Regular firearm deer hunting season in Michigan began on Nov. 15 and ended Thursday.
