Victor Viramontes, a three-star athlete from Norco, California, on Sunday decommitted from Michigan's 2016 recruiting class.

"After talking it over with my family, I decided to decommit from the University of Michigan and reopen my recruiting process," Viramontes wrote on Twitter. "I'd like to thank personally Coach Harbaugh and the staff for a great opportunity! I would also like to thank the Michigan fans for being great along the process! I wish Michigan best of luck!"

Viramontes also wrote on Twitter on Sunday night that his latest offer is from California. Berkeley is about six hours north of Norco, which is just outside Los Angeles.

Viramontes (6-0, 215) committed to Michigan when Jim Harbaugh and his staff traveled in California on UM's Summer Swarm tour.

Viramontes is ranked the No. 29 athlete nationally by Scout.com. He made his official visit to Michigan in September.

Viramontes' college position is uncertain. He could play quarterback, running back, linebacker or safety.

He has also received offers from Nebraska, San Diego State and Georgia Tech, among others.
