Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid’s Full Friendship Timeline

A lot of her music might be inspired by her romantic relationships, but Taylor Swift is well-known for her friendships—she practically trademarked the concept of a “girl squad.” And on that squad since 2014 is model Gigi Hadid, who still shows up to support Swift during her shows and day-to-day. The pair has even taken couples vacations together with Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and Hadid’s new beau, Bradley Cooper.

But who cares about boys? Here’s Swift and Hadid’s full friendship timeline.

It’s not entirely clear when they first crossed paths, but they notably posed together at the 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party alongside Ireland Baldwin, Karlie Kloss, and Jaime King.

A few months later, the pair was seen walking around the hills of Los Angeles, having a heart-to-heart.

Shortly after, Hadid made an appearance in Swift’s iconic music video for “Bad Blood” as “Slay Z.”

After filming the sequence, Hadid told People what to expect: “A lot of badass-ness—just the craziest thing you will ever see. I can’t say much, but it’s gonna be epic.”

After spending time together in L.A., the friends went to New York City to walk the streets with model Martha Hunt. Swift even shared a shot of the three of them together with a still from the music video, captioning it, “On tonight’s episode of ‘Not Purposely Trying to Recreate Music Videos, Just Going Out For Indian Food.’”

At the very end of the month, Hadid made an appearance on stage at the 1989 World Tour in Detroit with Hunt, joining for Swift’s song “Style.”

She took the stage again at the end of June, this time in London with Martha Hunt, Kendall Jenner, Serena Williams, Karlie Kloss, and Cara Delevingne.

Hadid attended Swift’s famous annual Fourth of July party in 2015. Hadid shared a Polaroid picture of herself taken at the event in a red bathing suit. She held a classic red, white, and blue popsicle.

In September, the friends stepped out in New York City with Hadid’s then-boyfriend, Zayn Malik. Swift was wearing a silk maxi dress from Hadid’s Tommy x Gigi collaboration.

While being interviewed on Today, Hadid talked about Swift’s recent Halloween party, which included guests like Hunt, Camila Cabello, and Kennedy Rayé. She said they snacked on guacamole, pizza, and chips and that she wore a Cub Scout costume while Swift was dressed as Deadpool (who is played by her friend Blake Lively’s husband, Ryan Reynolds).

“I had a really, really intense costume planned, and then I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll save it,’” she said. “I found a Cub Scouts shirt in Japan at a vintage store. I made a costume out of it!”

In a profile in Harper’s Bazaar, Hadid talked about how she was too busy to constantly expand her circle of friends, so she enjoys being with Swift.

“The time I do have off, it’s not even enough to give everyone I love attention. I’m good with [the friends] I’ve got,” she explained

Swift was also interviewed for the story and shared, “As a friend, Gigi is one of the first people I go to for advice. She has this incredible ability to see all sides of a situation and simplify it for you, to see the complexity of people.”

She added, “Gigi’s #1 rule is to treat people the way she’d want to be treated, so she’s on time (or early) to work, says hello to everyone on set, asks them how they are, and actually listens to their response.”

Hadid was filmed dancing to “Don’t Blame Me” from Swift’s album Reputation at another concert. She shared pics of the event in her Instagram Story, writing, “I’m so proud to experience this celebration of clarity and strength with you. WHAT A SHOW. You did it again. Love you to the moon.”

At a New Year’s costume party, they both dressed up as Disney characters, with Swift costumed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Hadid as Mary Poppins. Reynolds and Lively were also at the party.

Hadid watched Swift perform with Dua Lipa, SZA, and Becky G at the Prime Day concert in New York City.

At another VMAs, the girls spent time with Hadid’s sister, Bella.

Swift revealed in 2019 that Scooter Braun and Big Machine Label Group co-founder Scott Borchetta stopped her from performing her older songs at the American Music Awards. Hadid wrote in a now-deleted tweet, “Scott and Scooter, you know what the right thing to do is 🙏🙏Taylor and her fans deserve to celebrate the music!!”

Hadid shared a picture from her Friendsgiving, which included Swift, Hunt, and Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski. On her Instagram Story, she wrote, “Friendsgiving this week :) love you all sm.”

And she celebrated Swift with a loving Instagram post for her 30th birthday.

Hadid shared a picture of her daughter, Khai, with what looks like a blanket made by Swift.

For her 31st birthday, Hadid shared a picture of them on her Instagram story, with a caption reading, “Happiest 31st Year. My T! Wish we could be together to celebrate. Love you so much.”

In an interview with Vogue, Hadid shared that Swift didn’t just make Khai a blanket, she made her a whole teddy bear.

“It’s misshapen, and she called it Ugly Bear,” she joked. “She had one when she was little.”

Hadid threw a dinner to celebrate the launch of her new luxury cashmere brand, Guest In Residence, at Le Chalet in New York City. Swift was there along with Bella, Emily Ratajkowski, Tan France, and Edward Enninful.

In a TikTok video shared by @broookeff, Hadid answers the question, “What is your favorite song off of the new Taylor Swift album?”

The question referred to Midnights, and the model said she favored “Snow on the Beach.”

“Probably ‘Snow on the Beach’ because it reminds me of Taylor’s house in Rhode Island in the winter, and it just makes me think of good times,” she explained. “Even though, you know ... it could be a song about a lot of things, but I love that it makes me happy.”

Swift and Hadid went out to dinner in New York City with Blake Lively, plus sisters Alana, Danielle, and Este Haim. The outing came just a few weeks after Swift’s confirmed breakup with actor Joe Alwyn.

That same month while chatting with InStyle, Hadid revealed Swift was an “exceptional cook,” especially her “really good bolognese sauce” and “really good chili.”

“I love to cook, but it’s also such a treat to get cooked for,” Hadid said. “And when you have friends that really also care about those special moments and the more intimate spaces and what can really come from putting an effort into making the time for that, I think that that’s when you start to find the friends that you really connect with because you’re both working towards manifesting those really special moments.”

Hadid attended Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Nashville with Matty Healy, Lily Aldridge, and Abigail Anderson Berard, and Ashley Avignone. In a video posted to X, formerly called Twitter, Hadid can be seen walking backstage.

The friends had dinner together at Nobu Downtown and were photographed walking arm-in-arm.

Hadid attended Swift’s concert in Santa Clara, California, with celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta.

Hadid and Bradley Cooper were romantically linked in 2023, and a source told The Mirror, according to Page Six, that Swift lent out her Rhode Island home to the new couple for a romantic getaway.

“Taylor is a total romantic and loves playing cupid for her friends,” claimed the insider. “Even though Gigi and Bradley have their own properties in New York, they wanted somewhere more private to spend time getting to know each other, and Taylor was only too happy to help. She said the door to her home is always open for them to use.”

Hadid, Swift, Sophie Turner, Selena Gomez, and Brittany Mahomes all went to dinner together in New York City.

That month, a source told Us Weekly, “One of the reasons Gigi hasn’t attended any of Travis’ games is because she doesn’t agree with the way Taylor has been acting with [him]...She feels like Taylor is doing too much, too soon.”

But Hadid almost immediately shut down those rumors.

She commented on a Perez Hilton Instagram, saying she was a “couple days late” to the gossip. She added, “Didn’t the press try this last week w Selena? Let it be.. we are all over the moon for our girl. Period.”

Swift, Hadid, Kelce, and Cooper spent a holiday weekend together. According to People, Kelce’s mom, Donna, said at QVC’s Age of Possibility summit that her son sent her a picture of the foursome in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.

Hadid, Cooper, and Kelce were all in Paris in May for Swift’s Eras Tour international leg.

A source told Entertainment Tonight that the friends are “so happy” their partners get along, adding, “Taylor and Gigi have always been extremely close, but being in love simultaneously and having these similar and shared experiences has been so much fun for them.”
