What happens when our darkest secrets come to light? We’ll find out when Apple TV+ drops its new thriller, Disclaimer. The upcoming series is based on Renée Knight’s best-selling novel, which follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a woman who becomes the subject of a mysterious book. Take a peek at the logline below:

“When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize that she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships with her husband, Robert, and their son, Nicholas.”

Oof. What did she do?!? Well, Apple TV+ isn’t ready to give us any clues. In fact, the teaser avoids telling us anything about the show at all. Instead, we’re given a chilling warning as clips of a family float across the screen. “Beware of narrative and form,” the narrator says. “Their power can bring us closer to the truth, but because of our own deeply held beliefs and the judgments that we make, they could also be a weapon with a great power to manipulate. Ladies and gentlemen, be aware.”

I feel like I just finished Presumed Innocent’s batshit mystery—and now I have to do it all over again. At least Alfonso Cuarón, who won an Academy Award for his 2018 film, Roma, is directing the series. He previously helmed Gravity and Children of Men, which also received critical acclaim. So we’re in good hands.

Here’s everything you need to know about Cuarón’s mysterious new project.

Who Is in Disclaimer?

Disclaimer stars the great Cate Blanchett. The two-time Oscar winner plays Catherine—and from the looks of the trailer, she’s perfected the whole shocked-suburban-wife trope. Her husband, Robert, is played by the also great Sacha Baron Cohen, while Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee will bring their son, Nicholas, to life. The ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, and Squid Game actress Hoyeon.

When Does Disclaimer Premiere?

Disclaimer debuts on October 11. The first two episodes will be released that day, followed by a new episode every Friday until November 15.
