Sanditon / Streaming via ITVX from Thursday 3 August

Sometimes, dramas can take a while to find an audience. This was certainly the case with Sanditon, a drama based on Jane Austen's unfinished novel. Originally created by Andrew Davies, the man who famously put Colin Firth's Darcy in a wet shirt in his adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, it arrived with huge fanfare in 2019 but failed to achieve the kind of viewing figures that ITV had hoped for.

That looked as if it might be it until was shown Stateside by PBS in its strand, when it became clear that the show could attract an international fanbase. It was renewed for two further seasons to complete its interweaving stories, and the second of these is now arriving to stream in the UK
