Many people take collagen supplements to improve their skin elasticity and appearance. Several studies have investigated the effects of collagen supplementation on the skin. One study of 36 postmenopausal women found that skin elasticity increased when women took a 5 g oral collagen supplement. Even after stopping the collagen supplement for a month, the elasticity in their cheeks remained higher than in the placebo group.
