Big Brother 2011: Paddy Doherty's win ‘will open doors for all travellers’
PADDY DOHERTY has vowed to use his new-found fame to repair the tarnished image of the travelling community.
“I hope I have broken down barriers,” said surprise Celebrity Big Brother winner Paddy Doherty.
“I am so thankful for Big Brother giving a traveller an opportunity.
“Everyone said ‘Paddy, you are mad’ but I took a gamble and it paid off.
“All the travellers are saying ‘Paddy has done something for us, it’s opened doors’. And my countrymen have voted for me. I thought I would never live to see the day that they would vote for a traveller.
All the travellers are saying ‘Paddy has done something for us, it’s opened doors’.
“My time on Big Brother was the longest I have lived in a house. It was hard. I felt like a fish stuck in a bowl, I could hardly breathe sometimes. You have nowhere to go.
“I like getting up in a pair of shorts, having a cup of tea and looking at the other travellers walking up and down. You’ll not get that in a house where you’re closed in. Freedom is everything to me.”
