'Everything about her was wrong' Clare Balding's wife Alice Arnold opens up on romance
CLARE BALDING'S wife of seven years Alice Arnold, admitted at first, there was "very little" she found attractive about her partner.

Alice Arnold and Clare Balding met around 1999; their friendship blossoming over their passion for sport. They got together shortly afterwards, in 2002, after the racing commentator came out about her sexuality.

But Alice admitted at first, there was "very little" she found attractive about her future wife, as she appeared to be everything she would usually stay clear of.
In an interview with The Times, The pair opened up about their realtionship, as Alice very honestly admitted: "There was very little about Clare that I found attractive at first.
"To be honest, everything about her was wrong!
"She ticked all the boxes of things I tend to avoid and didn’t have any of the qualities I thought I needed in a partner.

"It took some persuasion by her to break my resistance down."
She described Clare as "a bit overconfident, but certainly not brash or loud".
"Now I think her confidence is an amazing quality. I admire her hugely for it," Alice beamed.
She admitted that Clare's media job was a bit of an issue at first.
"I didn’t want to be with someone who needed looking after," she shrugged."
"I didn’t want the imbalance of being the housewife to her success.
"As I got to know her, I realised she is not high maintenance at all."
Alice continued: "In fact, because we both come from a media background, we are good sounding boards for each other.

"We are very honest in our guidance of each other."
As a fellow journalist for BBC, Clare feels comfortable letting her wife help her to decide what work TV projects to take on next.
"She knows what I like and I trust her judgment entirely," Clare explained.
"A job isn’t about how much it is worth, it’s whether I will enjoy it.
"Over the years, we’ve said no to I’m a Celebrity, Strictly Come Dancing and Wife Swap.
"We laughed a lot about the last one!"
Clare works away a lot for work, so she makes sure they make the most of every minute they have together.
