The One Show presenter Alex Jones has shared an update on her husband Charlie Thomson’s health after fearing she was “losing” him last year.
Charlie had fallen into a “dark depression” after becoming seriously ill with Lyme disease and viral meningitis.
Sharing how Charlie is doing now, Alex told Gabby Logan: “He’s good. He's in a way better place now to where we were a year ago.”
The presenter said “diet has played a huge part” in his recovery as he has gotten “quite into nutrition”.
She continued: "I think it was a way for him as well to fill his days in a sense when he wasn't feeling well.
“He decided to take on this kind of role of, right well we've got the medication but I'm going to see what else I can do to help myself,” she added on The Mid Point podcast.
The mum-of-three revealed her husband’s love of cooking and food stems from his past working as a chef. The New Zealander now works as an insurance broker.
Alex first spoke out about Charlie’s health struggle earlier this year and confessed she thought she “was losing him”.
She told Elizabeth Day on her How To Fail podcast: “He became a shadow of himself. He was so ill, he really went downhill fast mentally.

"And again I found myself at a loss thinking 'Oh my God, I don't know what to do here'. We all talk a good game, but do we actually know how to help people?
"I thought I was losing him, as in not actually losing him. But I thought ‘Oh my God, where is he? I can't see him’.”
She urged others to seek professional help admitting she didn't feel "equipped" enough to fully help her husband.
Alex and Charlie met at a party in 2011 and married four years later. They share three children: Teddy, five, Kit, three, and Annie, one.
