Michael Caine receives award at Karlovy Vary film festival
Sir Michael Caine has claimed the key to longevity is ensuring your partner is “younger” and not eating between meals.
The Alfie actor turned 90 this year and is often spotted enjoying date nights with his wife Shakira Caine, 76, whom he married in 1973.
Sir Michael says he is keen to “live forever” for his daughters Natasha, and Dominique, and his three grandchildren.
He shared with MailOnline that the advice he lives by is “younger wives, no snacking and wearing trainers all the time – and you have to be careful not to fall down”.
The actor previously described how he had transformed his diet as part of a health kick to keep up with the youngsters in his family.
The star, who has been acting in films for more than 70 years, said: “I’ve decided to live a bit longer.
“I’ve cut down on the drink and got a new outlook on life.
“I thought I wasn’t going to have grandchildren, and suddenly I have three."
He continued: “They’re my fountain of youth and have given me a new lease of life without any of the worries or troubles."

“I’m completely besotted and so is my wife,” he added.
Sir Michael said he thought the high point of his life was winning two Academy Awards, however since his grandchildren came into his life, he has changed his mind.
He continued: “I’ve had some high points in my life, I’ve won two Academy Awards and been given a knighthood, and I used to think that you couldn’t get better than that.
“The wonderful thing about grandchildren is something someone once said, which is they fill a hole in your heart which you didn’t know was empty.
“And I think that’s absolutely true,” he told Candis magazine.
Back in 2016, the Batman star revealed he had suffered from alcohol addiction and explained how Shakira had rescued him from the point of no return.
He shared: “I was a bit of a p***-artist when younger. I used to drink a bottle of vodka a day and I was smoking several packs a day. I wasn’t unhappy, but it was stress."
