Geldof handed honorary degree
Rocker BOB GELDOF has followed in the footsteps of ORLANDO BLOOM by accepting an honorary university degree for his contribution to culture.
The former Boomtown Rats star donned a traditional cap and gown when he was presented with the Master of Arts accolade by officials at the University of Kent in Canterbury on Thursday (22Jul10) - where Bloom picked up the same honour earlier this month (Jul10).
And Geldof was thrilled to accept the degree, because he lives in the local area.
The Live Aid organiser says, "It's great to also receive recognition from UCA for the creative work that I've been doing for the past 35 years. I live up the road, so to be recognised by a local university, in the region that I love, adds even greater significance for me. I wouldn't have accepted this award if it didn't mean anything to me."
