Celebrity chef Simon Rimmer has revealed he used to feel excluded "an awful lot of the time" from his wife, Ali, and daughter, Flo.
Speaking to Izzy and Richard Hammond alongside his daughter during a Father's Day episode of the Who We Are Now podcast, the Sunday Brunch host admitted he "used to sulk about it".
However, he jokingly said that when his daughter entered her teenage years, he was "really glad" of this exclusion, because she was "such a pain in the a**e".
When asked if ever felt excluded, Simon said: "Oh yeah, yeah, yeah - an awful lot of the time. Yeah, I think I used to sulk about it more until you (Flo) became a teenager, and I was really glad I was excluded. Cos then you were such a pain in the a**e."
Earlier, Simon asked his fellow podcast guests: "Do you think as well, both of you, that you are aware of the fact that, the difference that your dad feels for you than your mum?"
When presented with the notion of a "different type" of love between family members, Richard chimed in while addressing his daughter Izzy: "I dunno; is it? Because you have quite a robust relationship with your mother. Erm, you're close-close."
Richard, who is married to Mindy Hammond and has a second daughter named Willow, followed up by reflecting on his position as the only male in his family, despairing that he and Simon "can't join in with a girls' movie night".
When asked about the differences in his own father-daughter dynamic, Simon said: "I think there's a big difference, and you do have double standards that you wish that you didn't.
"I like to think that I'm, you know, I'm sorta modern, but you do - you almost want your son to go out and be hunter-gatherer, and yet, I want to protect you (Flo) more."

Simon said he still protects his son, Hamish, but it's a "very different thing" and conceded that his son's relationship with his mum is different to Flo's, but having a son and a daughter means you can "get over that little bit of exclusion".
Richard said "it's odd" because in this "day and age" with gender fluidity and identification, we "really should be able to see beyond all of that", but he suspects it "does have an effect" at a "primal level".
Simon, who was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, presents Sunday Brunch with co-host Tim Lovejoy. The pair returned to our screens for a special bank holiday edition last month.
Fans, however, were quick to point out they were only watching the show because critically-acclaimed author Anthony Horowitz was in attendance, and they were preparing to "switch off".
In May, the show was embroiled in a controversy that meant Lovejoy was forced to issue an apology minutes into a show after guest Humphrey Ker swore during his introduction.
