Alex Jones presents The One Show
BBC One Show's Alex Jones has admitted that her job in TV makes her feel "guilty". The Welsh presenter 47, and her husband, Charlie Thomson share Teddy, six, Kit, four, and Annie, three, and balancing looking after them with working "breaks her heart".
Speaking to Women & Home UK, Alex admitted that she sometimes feels "guilty" when trying to juggle her work and home life. She said: "I suffer from terrible mum guilt at times, but that's the nature of my work.
"I feel massive guilt about not being able to put the kids to bed every night, which is why Charlie and I spend as much time with them as possible, doing things that they will remember."
She added: "Everyone has days when they're tired and would rather do anything else than a jigsaw puzzle or build a giant hole in the sand. Charlie and I work really hard and I try to teach the children the value of things.
"I tell them I'd love to be able to read them a story every night, but my work happens at that time, and I have to work so we can do nice things at weekends and eat the food we eat. They're too little to totally get it and it breaks my heart, but there's no way around it."
The TV presenter also issued an update on whether or not she would ever call it quits on BBC's The One Show. This August, Alex will celebrate 14 years on the TV programme and it’s still her dream job.
Alex said: "People always ask me what I want to do next. I feel like saying, 'What do you mean? I'm doing what I've always wanted to do. Why would I hanker after another job?'
"Of course, I've still got ambitions to do other things, and I love making documentaries, but they will always be complementary to The One Show.

"I'll be there for as long as they'll have me and it will always be my main job."
She added: "I love getting glammed up for work, but I’m casual the rest of the time. My job gives me a nice balance.
"Every day there’s a lovely outfit to wear, and I get my make-up done and all the rest of it, but at home I’m super casual. I’m usually in a sweatshirt and jeans, mainly because there’s no time for anything else."
