Charlotte Church's apology to Queen
CHARLOTTE Church apologised yesterday for making unflattering comments about the Queen.
The Voice Of An Angel star admitted she had been “foolish” to make the “flippant” remarks.
She had said the Queen was an old lady who had no idea what was going on and had never recognised her, despite meeting her repeatedly.
Church, 24, made the comments in an interview with Esquire magazine and immediately faced criticism for using an attack on the 84-year-old monarch to help sell her first album in five years
In a statement yesterday she said: “I am deeply sorry if my comments about the Queen caused offence.
“I am honoured to have met her and have an enormous amount of respect for her and what she does.”.
The Welsh diva added: “My only defence is that I never expected a respected publication to sensationalise my words out of context like this.”
