Duffy inundated with celebrity support after 'breakdown' comment
Soul singer DUFFY regrets talking about her struggle with fame following the release of her debut album ROCKFERRY - because she was bombarded with concerned calls from famous fans offering their support.
The Mercy hitmaker once confessed in an interview that she felt uneasy about life in the spotlight after releasing the record in 2008, and jokingly quipped she was "having a nervous breakdown".
Her comment was taken seriously by many, and Duffy found herself inundated with offers of support - including from some famous faces.
She tells the Daily Record, "That is the silliest thing I ever said. I think you know I don't take myself too seriously. The guy (interviewer) said, 'How's it going?' and I replied, 'Yeah, I'm having a nervous breakdown'.
"It's amazing. Suddenly, I was having the most famous people in the world offering to be my friend and see if I needed support.
"On the plus side, it did wonders for my phone book."
