Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber pledges millions to charity
SIR ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER is donating £32 million to art and culture organisations through his charitable foundation.
The composer raised the money for the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation by selling a Pablo Picasso painting in an auction last summer (Jun10).
The funds will be handed out to different organisations, including youth theatre company Chickenshed and music charity Nordoff Robbins, which specialises in music therapy.
Chairman of the Trustees, Mark Wordsworth, says, "Previously we have concentrated on fine art and arts education, but we have decided to help a broader scope of people and projects directly with the funds invested from the Picasso sale."
