David Bradley recreates the moment Doctor Who began in upcoming BBC2 drama
ACTOR David Bradley has returned to the Sixties in order to recreate the moment that Doctor Who first hit TV screens.
The 71-year-old, who is well-known for playing Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch in the Harry Potter films, will star in upcoming drama called 'An Adventure in Time.'
The programme will tell the story of the birth of Doctor Who, and is being made as part of the sci-fi show's 50th anniversary celebrations.
Bradley takes on the role of the Time Lord in the first ever episode of the show which was entitled 'An Unearthly Child' and aired on November 23, 1963.
Speaking of his performance, current writer and executive producer of Doctor who, Mark Gatiss, said: "David Bradley brings every ounce of his talent, humour and presence to the role of William Hartnell.
"It’s a wonderfully touching and subtle performance, and I’m immensely proud of both him and the film."
And while Bradley plays actor William Hartnell, 'Call The Midwife' star Jessica Raine takes on the role of pioneering producer Verity Lambert, with Brian Cox playing another BBC executive.
