Benedict Cumberbatch punches Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear
A LOT of people have dreamed about doing it, but Benedict Cumberbatch managed to make it punch Jeremy Clarkson a reality last night. Well, kind of.
The Sherlock star taught the Top Gear host how to throw a fake punch - movie star style - on last night's episode, after Clarkson revealed that he didn't know how to punch anyone.
"I've no idea how to fly a spaceship or punch anyone. Or act," he said after Cumberbatch had joked that he couldn't do Clarkson's job upon revealing that he had caused serious damage to a previous car.
"That can be taught," replied the Star Trek star before encouraging the show's host to join him in a demonstration.
"I'll give and you receive," he quipped.
"I like being the dominant one."
A worried Clarkson then apologised to the audience in case he ended up bleeding on them.
The pair then prepared the mock fight scene with Cumberbatch directing the show's cameramen, before pretending to punch his host on the jaw.
The actor also took part in the programme's Star In A Reasonably Priced Car segment, in which celebrities race a family vehicle? around a track - but he was disappointed to discover his lap time was slower than previous Star Trek villain Eric Bana.
Cumberbatch completed his lap in one minute 47.8 seconds while Bana, who played Nero in the 2009 Star Trek film, racked up a one minute, 47.5 lap time in a 2009 episode of the show
Meanwhile Sherlock writer Mark Gatiss has ruled out the hit BBC drama shooting a live episode. Answering questions posed to him at the Paris Comic Con, the Radio Times reported the writer being asked whether there would ever be a live episode.
Responding, Gatiss commented: "Not for Sherlock! I'm going grey just at the prospect! Absolutely not.”
