Matt Smith: 'I would love a role in Star Trek or Star Wars'
HE'S already played the lead role in one of Science Fiction's biggest shows, but Doctor Who's Matt Smith has revealed that he would love to appear in Star Trek or Star Wars.
The actor - who revealed that he will be stepping down as the Time Lord at Christmas - opened up about his love of JJ Abrams work during a question and answer at the San Diego Comic-Con.
The 30-year-old was asked about whether he would like to play a character to Star Trek , to which he replied: "Yeah, I would [work with] JJ," before assign: "or Star Wars. So, just putting it out there."
"I love Star Trek and I love JJ Abrams," he added.
"What that man can do with a steadycam is amazing," he concluded.
But Smith pointed out that Benedict Cumberbatch performance in Star Trek Into Darkness could hinder his chances of being cast as a baddie.
He said: "Ben’s kind of done the English villain now, hasn’t he? And he was great in it."
Abrams is directing Star Wars Episode 7 and directed the last two Star Trek films.
While Smith has recently finished working on Ryan Gosling's directorial debut How to Catch a Monster, and will now return to film one final episode of Doctor Who.
