Glee star Chris Colfer remembers Cory Monteith on Twitter as memorial service is held
GLEE star Chris Colfer broke his silence on the death of his friend and co-star Cory Monteith yesterday, with an emotional tribute on his Twitter page.
The star - who plays Kurt Hummel in the hit TV series - took to the social networking page on the same day as the memorial service held to pay tribute to the late star, who died earlier this month aged just 31.
He wrote: "I'll never forget all the laughs we shared or the faced we made after awkward interview questions… love and miss you buddy," alongside a screen grab of the two in a joint interview.
The young actor was inundated with messages of condolence from his followers, with many adding their own tributes to the tragic star.
This was the first time the 23-year-old star has mentioned the passing of his friend, and was the same day he attended a memorial service headed up by Lea Michele at the Paramount studios.
The show's stars, including Jane lynch, Jenna Ushkowitz and Dianna Agron all came together to pay tribute to their friend - who died after a deadly concoction of heroin and alcohol earlier this month.
"Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith," a producer for 20th Century Fox Television said in a statement.
"We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time."
Jane Lynch later told TMZ that the service was beautiful, adding that it was nice to be all together again.
"It was beautiful. And still really sad, but it was beautiful," she said.
A small shrine has been erected outside the studios, with fans leaving flowers, candles and messages of condolences.
