James Gandolfini's TV show to be re-shot
TV bosses behind JAMES GANDOLFINI's final small screen project are in talks to recast the role following the actor's death last month (Jun13).
The Sopranos star filmed a pilot episode of an HBO show called Criminal Justice before he died of a heart attack during a trip to Italy.
HBO president Michael Lombardo has now revealed producers hope to continue with the project, and they are looking into the possibility of re-shooting the pilot with a new actor in Gandolfini's place.
Speaking during HBO's presentation to The Television Critics Association on Thursday (25Jul13), Lombardo said, "Jim's passing took the wind out of our sails at HBO. I can't imagine us airing the pilot with James in it, but we're having conversations with (producer) Steve Zaillian about how to proceed.
"It's hard to think about replacing him. The conversation would be about re-shooting the scenes that Jim had already performed in, and recasting going forward."
Criminal Justice is an adaptation of the 2008 BBC series of the same name which starred Skyfall's Ben Whishaw and late actor Pete Postlethwaite.
